Richard Chariot Laskey was born October 15, 1933 in Boley, Oklahoma to Andrew and Kizzie Laskey. Richard Chariot and Savannah Faye Louise Forshee of Boley, Oklahoma were united in holy matrimony August 15, 1954.They are the parents of seven children, four boys; .Richard Kenneth, Anthony and Arnold, Robert, and three girls; Kasonja, Linette, and LaDonna. They also reared fourteen other children. They have numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rev. Laskey was raised in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Boley, Oklahoma. He began preaching at Antioch Institutional Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma under the pastoral leadership of Rev. F.J. Waters. He later joined St. John CME Church in Spencer, Oklahoma. He was brought in through the 4th Quarterly Conference by Presiding Elder J.S. Sykes under the supervision of Rev. Curtis Long who was the Pastor in Charge. On September 25, 1966 at the Annual Conference he was issue his Local Deacon License by Bishop Walter H. Amos. Later appointed as circuit pastor of Whites Chapel CME Church in Earlsboro, Oklahoma; Miles Chapel CME in Chickasha, Oklahoma; and Stella Mission CME in Newalla, Oklahoma by the Rt. Rev. Walter H. Amos the Presiding Prelate of the Ninth Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Church and Presiding Elder S.D. Lewers. In September 1970, Bishop Walter H. Amos moved him to Pastor Israel Chapel CME Church in Spencer, Oklahoma, where in July he started his 38th year of pastoring. At the Mid-Winter Council held at Holsey Chapel CME Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, November 2001 he was appointed as the presiding Elder of the Oklahoma City District by the then Rt. Rev. E. Lynn Brown, Presiding Prelate of the Ninth Episcopal District. In 2005 he began his greatest accomplishment, groundbreaking for a New Sanctuary with completion and dedication in April 2006 by our current Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Henry M. Williamson, Sr. presiding prelate of the Ninth Episcopal District.
Rev. Laskey personal ministry in the community service and outreach. His ministry is carried out through his regular hospital and nursing home visits, the Gospel Train Radio Broadcast and any person he come in contact with daily. The Gospel Train Radio Broadcast has currently been broadcast on the air for over twenty years. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has recognized him as outstanding pastor and outstanding person in the community. He also received a Humanitarian Award from the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Spencer, Oklahoma. On January 8,2008 he received Outstanding Minister Award from the Phillips School of Theology in Atlanta, GA, February 25, 2005 he received The Degree of Honorary Doctor of Divinity in Humane Letters from Dan Larremore Ministries International, Inc. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, April 8, 2005 , Leadership Excellence Award of Outstanding Ministerial Leadership in the Oklahoma-Muskogee Region of the Ninth Episcopal District, and on December 3, 2005 Community Service Award from the Robert Morris Chapter #105 Order of the Eastern Star.
